Profile: Mr Sven Goebel is originally from Germany and graduated from the University of Cologne in 1997.Mr Goebel completed his basic and advanced Orthopaedic Surgery training in Perth in 2010. Mr Goebel subsequently spent 18 months working in Europe where he spent time in sports orthopaedics and shoulder surgery with Prof. A. Imhoff at the University of Munich. Mr Goebel then completed further sub-specialty training under Dr Laurent Lafosse and Dr Bruno Toussaint at the internationally renowned Alps Surgery Institute in Annecy, France. In both positions, Mr Goebel focused on learning advanced minimally invasive knee and, in particular, shoulder arthroscopy techniques.Mr Goebel's interests include all types of shoulder surgery including treatment for rotator cuff pathology, instability, trauma surgery, joint replacement and revision surgery. Knee surgery for sports-related injuries such as meniscus tears or ligament tears are also treated by Mr Goebel. He has been involved in treating many high-level athletes, in particular Rugby and WAFL players.
