He did his resident training at Royal Perth Hospital, before spending 12 months in the United Kingdom as an orthopaedic registrar, in 2000. He undertook his orthopaedic training in Western Australia and gained his orthopaedic fellowship in 2006Geoff travelled to Toronto, Canada in 2006 where he completed his fellowship in hip and knee arthroplasty. He subsequently travelled to St. Gallen, Switzerland where he completed his fellowship in trauma and adult reconstruction in 2007. On his return to Perth that same year, Geoff undertook fellowship training in hand and upper limb surgery at the Perth Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre, with Mr Peter Hales.Geoff enjoys all general orthopaedics including joint replacement, arthroscopic surgery, knee surgery, sports injuries and upper limb surgery. He also has a special interest and has completed training in the use of the Stryker MAKO robot for partial knee replacement (PKR) in appropriately selected patients which is revolutionising PKR surgery in Australia. He also uses the MAKO robot for some hip replacements.“The robot surgery is based on a high resolution 3D imaging, where a computer correlates what the surgeon is seeing and feeling in real time to a pre-operative digital plan based on a 3D Computerised Tomography (CT) scan of the patient,” he explains.
