On his return to Perth that same year, Geoff undertook fellowship training in hand and upper limb surgery at the Perth Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre, with Mr Peter Hales.Geoff enjoys all general orthopaedics including joint replacement, arthroscopic surgery, knee surgery, sports injuries and upper limb surgery. He also has a special interest and has completed training in the use of the Stryker MAKO robot for partial knee replacement (PKR) in appropriately selected patients which is revolutionising PKR surgery in Australia. He also uses the MAKO robot for some hip replacements.“The robot surgery is based on a high resolution 3D imaging, where a computer correlates what the surgeon is seeing and feeling in real time to a pre-operative digital plan based on a 3D Computerised Tomography (CT) scan of the patient,” he explains.
