Profile: Mr Hannes Basson completed his initial studies at the University of the Orange Free State, South Africa, in 1985. He specialised as a general surgeon and obtained the M.Med (Surgery) degree at the University of the Orange Free State, South Africa, in 1992. He practiced as a specialist surgeon at Sunninghill Hospital in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa from 1993 until 2002.After immigrating with his family to Australia, Mr Basson worked in the Department of General Surgery at Royal Perth Hospital in 2003 before becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2004. Mr Basson then commenced practice as a visiting medical specialist at Armadale Health Service with appointments at Galliers Private Hospital and the Mount Hospital.
