About Dr George Gayagay

Profile: Dr Gayagay specialises in adult hip and knee surgery and is a Fellow of both the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Australian Orthopaedic Assocation.Dr Gayagay graduated with Honours Degrees in both Bachelor of Medical Science and Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Sydney in 2001. He was then admitted to the Sydney Northside Orthopaedic Training Scheme and completed a Fellowship in Adult Joint Arthroplasty with Prof. Paul Smith at Canberra. He regularly visits and works with a number of high volume orthopaedic surgeons in the US and Europe, especially in the fields of Direct Anterior Approach (DAA) hip replacement surgery and multi-ligament knee reconstructions.Active in teaching and providing orthopaedic care within the South East Asian region, Dr Gayagay, together with AusAid and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, has helped establish orthopaedic services at the Dili National Hospital of East Timor and trained future orthopaedic surgeons for that country.Dr Gayagay's interest in teaching is also extended to our regional centres such as Albury. He is actively involved in teaching SET orthopaedic trainees, and in the creation of a fellowship training position for local and international orthopaedic surgeons.
Special interests: Hip replacement surgery, primary and revision. Anterior hip, knee replacement srugery, primary, revision, uni-knee and patellofemoral, knee arthroscopy including meniscal repair and ligament reconstructions and multi-ligament knee reconstruction.
