Dr Kirkham graduated MBBS from University of Sydney in 1990, and obtained FRACS in 1998. He completed the Newcastle AOA training programme, and then undertook a 12 month Hand Surgery Fellowship at Baylor College or Medicine in Houston, Texas, USA between 1999-2000. He also obtained a Diploma of Microvascular Surgery through the Department of Plastic Surgery, St Joseph's Hospital, Houston Texas in 2000. Dr Kirkham has Visiting Medical Officer rights at Sydney Adventist Hospital and at Norwest Hospital. He has been secretary of the NSW Hand Surgery Association and was on the KDMA Committee. Dr Kirkham has specific interest in endoscopic carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, tendon reconstruction and tendon transfers, nerve physiology, and wrist reconstructions. He specialises in Hand and Upper Limb Surgery, with special interest in upper limb arthroplasty and arthroscopy. He has several recent publications in internationally recognised peer review journals. He regularly lectures and teaches registrars on the AOA training program.
