Professor Sue Taylor trained in Perth at Sir Charles Gairdner, Osborne Park, Royal Perth and Fremantle Hospitals from 1992 to 2001.
After gaining Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2001, she continued to serve the public hospital system, participating in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision.
In 2002, she spent 12 months working with Professor Sir Alfred Cuschieri at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, Scotland, bringing home broad experience in laparoscopic surgery and also in postgraduate and post-fellowship teaching skills.
Prof. Taylor specialises in upper gastrointestinal surgery, including bariatric surgery with a great multidisciplinary team. She is Clinical Head of the Department of Surgery at Osborne Park Hospital. She is a strong advocate of electronic health records and communication.
Prof. Taylor teaches medical students, junior medical staff and surgical trainees, and is frequently an instructor on courses at CTEC and for RACS. She has been a member of Doctors for the Environment Australia for more than a decade, and is currently the Chair of the Anglican Ecocare Commission.
She regularly offsets her stubborn cycling/commuting, sourdough-baking and composting by flying off to Japan for winter skiing.
