About Dr Sanjay Khanna

Dr Sanjay Khanna is a Consultant Psychiatrist with more than 22 years experience in the management of all types of adult mental health. His areas of expertise include General Adult Psychiatry, managing ADHD, Old Age Psychiatry, Drug and Alcohol related Disorders, Eating Disorders and Consultation Liaison. He is also interested in Cultural Psychiatry and happy to review clients from CALD (people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds). Dr Khanna is a qualified Psychiatrist and a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). After completing his training and advance training in India in 1999, Dr Khanna worked as a consultant in India before moving to the Middle East where he worked as Specialist “A” for a number of years. Dr Khanna restarted his career in Australia as a Senior Registrar in 2004, and gradually moved and successfully gained his FRANZCP in 2013. He worked in various hospitals in NSW before moving to Bunbury, WA in 2007. In 2010 he relocated to Perth and has worked in various public mental health services as a Consultant Psychiatrist. Dr Khanna also worked in Old Age Mental Health Services in Rockingham for two and a half years and started work with North Metropolitan Mental Health Services (MHS) in 2012. Dr Khanna commenced private practice in 2014 alongside the public MHS and in 2017 decided to serve completely in the private health system. His approach to treatment is patient-centred and recovery focused. He is dedicated to reducing mental health stigma and providing quality treatment in order to help patients maintain the quality of life they deserve. Dr Khanna is also a visiting Consultant Psychiatrist to St John of God Murdoch Hospital. He can speak English, Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi and offers consultations in these languages.
