About Dr Ritwik Pandey

Profile: Dr Ritwik Pandey completed his MBBS in 1999, Internal Medicine post-graduate studies in 2002 and sub-speciality training in Medical Oncology in 2006 in India. He undertook his medical oncology training in one of the largest cancer hospitals in India, with more than 300 oncology beds, including a dedicated paediatric oncology and bone marrow transplant unit. During his training he was awarded the European Society of Medical Oncology Translational Research Unit visit award. For this he gained hands on training in tumour immunology and immunotherapy, and the cancer vaccine program of Karolinska University in Stockholm in Sweden.From 2006-2010 he worked in major private cancer centres in India. During this time he also gained international achievements including the International Development and Education Award (IDEA) of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and visited the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, USA as a visiting Fellow. In 2010 he was awarded the AVON foundation award by the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR), to present his paper in the Translational Cancer Symposium organised by the AACR in San Francisco, California.Dr Pandey was awarded his FRACP in Medical Oncology in 2012, and before coming to Cairns, he worked as a Specialist Medical Oncologist at the Launceston General Hospital in Tasmania for 1½ years. He is also a Specialist Medical Oncologist at the Liz Plummer Cancer Centre at Cairns Hospital.
