Profile: Dr Phil Lockie trained in Ireland and the UK, where he won The Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland Gold Medal at the Intercollegiate examination in General Surgery. Dr Lockie completed an oesophageal Fellowship at The Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast before coming to Australia. He completed a year as the Upper GI Fellow at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney and another year as the Tyco Laparoscopic Fellow in Canberra before relocating to Brisbane with his family.Dr Lockie was accepted as a member of the European Hernia Society and specialises in Laparoscopic Incisional Hernia Repair and Laparoscopic Inguinal Hernia Repair.He also now runs the Brisbane Institute of Obesity Surgery, BIOS. The practice has a "total care approach" to bariatric surgery. As such the practice has "in house" dieticians, psychologist and exercise physiologist, together with a patient support group.
