A Medical Oncologist is a consultant physician specialising in the investigation, study, diagnosis, management and treatment of benign and malignant growths, tumours, cancers and diseases. Sub-specialties of oncology includes surgical oncology (removes the tumour or cancerous tissue during an operation), radiation oncology (radiation therapy), medical oncology (chemotherapy and ) hormone therapy, gynaecological oncologist (treats cancers of the female reproductive system and genitals), haematological oncologist (treats cancers of the blood and bone marrow), paediatric oncologist (treats cancers in children). Breast surgeons treat women and men with all forms of breast disease, both benign and malignant, have an important role in the surveillance of women at increased risk of breast cancer, both for the purposes of early detection an for consideration of prophylactic surgery in this setting. General Surgeon is a specialist who provides expert treatment across a broad range of emergency and planned surgical procedures, performs surgery to correct diseases and disorders covering a broad range of medical conditions.
