About Dr Matt Henderson
Dr Matt Henderson is originally from South Africa where he obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.
He moved to New Zealand in 2003 where he completed his Fellowship in General Surgery and was selected for the ANZGOSA Subspecialty Training program for Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery in 2012.
A significant amount of his training has included oesophagogastric and obesity surgery and interventional endoscopy.
Dr Henderson’s interests include the surgical treatment of morbid obesity, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, hiatus hernias, achalasia, gallstones, abdominal and inguinal hernias. He is also involved with the surgical treatment of gastro-oesophageal malignancies. He performs gastroscopies and colonoscopies.
