Profile: Manuja is one of Australia's most well trained and highly qualified non-interventional cardiologists, being one of a few experts in all cardiac imaging modalities.Following his general cardiology training he undertook an Echocardiography Fellowship at the Prince of Wales Hospital, one of Australia's busiest units. This was followed by a 2 year Advanced Cardiac Imaging Fellowship at Canada's largest cardiac program, the world renowned University of Ottawa Heart Institute, where he trained in Cardiac CT, MRI and nuclear cardiology (SPECT and PET). Manuja is one of only 10 Australian cardiologists to be granted the United States' board certification in Cardiac CT. He was invited to address the US Congress on his research on Appropriate Use Criteria in Cardiac Imaging. He has received awards from the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology including recognition in 2014 as one of the 10 top researchers in the USA and Canada in cardiac imaging. Manuja has co-authored book chapters, multiple papers in cardiac imaging, and is frequently invited as an expert peer reviewer for cardiac imaging scientific journals.Since his return to Australia, Manuja has been practicing as a General Cardiologist and Cardiac Imaging Specialist. As the Head of Cardiac Imaging at Peninsula Health he has transformed the service into an internationally recognised centre of excellence.
