    I found Dr Askin to be brilliant. I waited over 30 years for surgery because I never found anyone who had had successful surgery and I knew that it was risky. Then it came to a point where I had no choice. Through my own research and ratings I chose Dr Askin and so glad that I did. I am now 6 months post surgery and had a discectomy and spinal fusion. The day after surgery I could curl my toes up and move them for the first time in 18 months. I seem to make a next step in my recovery about every three weeks and am on track for a 90 per cent recovery, as predicted by Dr Askin. I am back working full time and walk up to 5klm every day and have lost 9kg weight. I have a little nerve damage still down one ankle/foot but that is also long term and is improving gradually over time. Dr Askin talked to me about the risks of the surgery and how they would mitigate these. I felt at ease with him immediately. His bedside manner is exemplary and he was there every day after my surgery to assess and check in. His staff are absolutely lovely and the reception at the Bowen Hills suites have seating that you can also lay down on whilst you are waiting, which I did take advantage of as I was unable to sit for more than 15 minutes at a time. I really do have a new lease on life thanks to Dr Askin.
