About Dr Ali Kalhor

Profile: Dr Kalhor is an Australian trained orthopaedic surgeon, treating conditions of shoulder, elbow, knee and trauma. He was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2017 and became a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association. He later undertook sub specialty training in sports, knee and upper limb surgeries in Canberra, with Dr Kevin Woods and Dr Maurizio Damiani.During his fellowship training, he specialised in the management of complex shoulder, elbow and knee-related conditions and arthroplasty. He also has a particular interest in reconstructive and trauma surgeryAfter graduation, Dr Kalhor became involved in extensive research in the field of orthopaedic surgery, participating in the establishment of Iran’s premier orthopaedic research centre. After moving to Australia, his ongoing enthusiasm for research led to the attainment of a Master of Engineering by Research degree from the Queensland University of Technology in 2013, under the supervision of Professor Ross Crawford and was awarded the prestigious Royal Australian College of Surgeons’ Neville Davis Prize in 2013 for his extensive work on osteonecrosis.
