About Dr Eli Olschewski

Dr Olschewski specialises in hip, knee and shoulder surgery, including sports medicine and trauma, as well as primary and revision joint replacement surgery. He uses computer assisted and minimally invasive surgical techniques to optimise patient outcomes. Dr Olschewski completed medical school at the University of Toronto, followed by orthopaedic training at the University of Calgary, becoming an orthopaedic surgeon in 2002. During that time he won several awards, including the Award of Merit for Residents in Surgery. Subsequent to this, Dr Olschewski completed fellowships at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto and the Whitlam Joint Centre in Sydney, where he refined his skills in hip, knee and shoulder reconstruction. Dr Olschewski practised orthopaedic surgery in suburban Boston, USA, before returning to Sydney to be close to family. Dr Olschewski has always had an interest in research and won a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship from the Institute of Medical Sciences at the University of Toronto. He followed that by winning research awards in orthopaedic surgery while he was at the University of Calgary. He continues to be involved in orthopaedic research and has published articles in arthroplasty, trauma and surgical journals. He has presented at local and international orthopaedic meetings. He was an invited guest on the television show "DYK?" ("Did You Know?"), in Massachusetts, where he discussed current orthopaedic topics. He is currently involved in the teaching of medical students, orthopaedic registrars and fellows and is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at Sydney Medical School.
