Dr. Ben Schwarz studied Medicine at the University of New South Wales and graduated with honours in 2008. Dr. Schwarz was selected to undertake specialist training in Orthopaedic surgery by the Australian Orthopaedic Association in 2013. He completed his training and was awarded his Fellowship by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2018. Dr. Schwarz has recently returned from Canada having completed an adult hip and knee reconstructive fellowship in London, Ontario. The fellowship included management of degenerative, rheumatoid, and post-traumatic arthritis of the hip and knee, with a high volume of primary arthroplasty and an emphasis on revision hip and knee arthroplasty. He is due to undertake a further 6-month sub-specialty fellowship focusing on knee arthroplasty and arthroscopic reconstruction during the 2nd half of 2019. This will augment his previous training in unicompartmental and total knee arthroplasty, including revision arthroplasty, as well as further his training in osteotomy as well as arthroscopic ligament reconstruction, management of chondral injury or degeneration and meniscal repair.Dr. Schwarz has a strong interest in teaching and education. He has been involved in teaching undergraduate students and junior medical staff currently and throughout his training. This has led to him being granted teaching/tutor titles through Griffith, Bond and Wollongong Universities.
