About Dr Christine O’Neill
Profile: Chris O’Neill is a general surgeon with a subspecialty practice in endocrine and breast surgery. After obtaining her medical degree at the University of Melbourne in 2000, she undertook general surgical training in the Hunter. She then completed a two-year fellowship with the University of Sydney Endocrine surgical unit during which she obtained a Masters of Surgery in the molecular genetics of thyroid cancer.In 2010 she returned to Newcastle and has appointments at John Hunter, Belmont and Lake Macquarie Private Hospitals.She has a particular interest in thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal surgery and performs minimally invasive surgery where appropriate. She manages both benign and malignant breast disease and incorporates oncoplastic breast surgical techniques.
