About Dr Christian Schwindack

Profile: Dr Chris Schwindack was born and raised in Southern Africa. He obtained his MBChB at the University of FreeState, South Africa, in 1997. He then moved to the United Kingdom where he received his basic surgical training in Edinburgh, Scotland. He undertook a research year in Neuro-oncology at the Western General Hospital Edinburgh, publishing on the imaging characteristics of brain tumours. In 2007 he completed his Specialist Neurosurgical training at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. He became a Fellow of the Royal College Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2008. He has undertaken a surgical fellowship in Perth and completed his Australian specialist exams there.Chris has been a consultant neurosurgeon at Gold Coast hospital since 2012.He is currently establishing a neuro-oncology multi disciplinary team meeting at this facility. He has recently been a participant at the Cancer Queensland Brain tumour study day. Apart from his oncology interest he is a proponent of minimally invasive techniques in spinal surgery. He regularly attends courses in these minimally invasive surgical approaches to be able to offer his patients the least invasive surgery possible.Chris aims to provide holistic care to his patients and prefers to offer surgery only after other medical have not been helpful.
