About Dr Aanand Acharya
Dr Aanand Acharya is appointed as Consultant ENT Surgeon at two tertiary referral teaching hospitals in Perth and is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Western Australia.
After graduating with a Master’s degree in Medicine from the University of Cambridge (UK), Dr Acharya completed his clinical training at the Imperial college School of Medicine (London) and completed his specialist ENT training in 2012, graduating from the West Midlands Deanery Higher Surgical ENT Training Program. He was awarded the TWJ Fellowship in Otology in 2012 and spent two years undertaking training in advanced ear surgery.
Dr Acharya is also accredited in Otolaryngology with both the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. His special interests include: Surgery for Hearing Loss including Cochlear Implant surgery, Surgery for Chronic Ear Disease and Surgical treatment of the Blocked Nose.
In addition to delivering clinical service, Dr Acharya has an active interest in teaching medical students and ENT doctors in training, regularly speaking at training events for GPs and Emergency Department doctors.
His continued commitment to Clinical Research has also seen his work presented at National and International meetings and in a number of journal articles and publications.
Aanand further provides Outreach ENT services to rural and remote parts of WA and is the lead clinician and co-ordinator of the Telethon Speech & Hearing Pilbara Ear Bus Program. After also completing a Master’s Degree in Management from Durham University Business School, Dr Acharya has an interest in Management and is involved in work aimed at improving efficiency in the WA Health Service.
