Victor is a Specialist Trauma Care Surgeon with an interest in academic surgery. Raised in Hong Kong, he studied medicine in New Zealand and began his surgical training in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and South Africa. After obtaining his MRCS in England, he completed his Master of Surgical Sciences and Master of Surgery from the University of Edinburgh, graduating both with distinction and receiving the British Journal of Surgery Prize for best MSc dissertation. He then joined the University of KwaZulu Natal in Durban, South Africa, focusing on trauma surgery under Professor Damian Clarke, and obtained his PhD in 2014. He subsequently completed his MD at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. He returned to New Zealand to complete his specialist surgical training and earned his FRACS in 2020. Throughout his career, Victor has demonstrated his commitment to trauma research and education. Alongside authoring over 200 publications and giving over 70 national and international conference presentations, he has taught numerous courses internationally and currently serves as an instructor for ATLS, EMSB, ALS, ALERT, MSc Surgical Sciences and the ChM General Surgery Programme at the University of Edinburgh. Victor is passionate about trauma care and eager to contribute to a trauma and acute care surgery by delivering outstanding specialist care to patients.
