Graduated from the University of Melbourne with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2003. She began her basic surgical training at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and subsequently her advance training in General Surgery at Austin Health. During her clinical training, she took time off to develop her basic science research skills by undertaking a postgraduate degree with the University of Melbourne. She was awarded Master of Surgery (MS) in 2015 for her research in xenogeneic pancreatic transplant.
Zeng is a general, thyroid and endocrine surgeon who graduated from the University of Melbourne with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2003. She began her basic surgical training at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and subsequently her advance training in General Surgery at Austin Health. During her clinical training, she took time off to develop her basic science research skills by undertaking a postgraduate degree with the University of Melbourne. She was awarded Master of Surgery (MS) in 2015 for her research in xenogeneic pancreatic transplant. After completing her General Surgical training in 2013 and being admitted as a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS), Zeng undertook one year of local fellowship training in General Surgery at the Northern Hospital, Melbourne and one year of international fellowship in Thyroid and Endocrine Surgery at the largest robotic thyroidectomy centre in the world, Yonsei University Severance Hospital, Seoul. Under the guidance of the world renowned endocrine surgeon, Professor Woong Youn Chung, Zeng acquired the skills to perform robotic thyroidectomy which avoids a scar in the neck, as well as conventional open thyroidectomy, parathyroidectomy and laparoscopic adrenalectomy. In addition to endocrine surgery, Zeng also performs a range of general surgical operations, such as gallbladder, appendix and bowel surgeries, hernia operations and day case surgeries including ingrown toenail, skin lesions, vasectomy, carpal tunnel release, gastroscopy and colonoscopy. Zeng is also a keen teacher who has been actively involved in teaching medical students and being an examiner at the Austin clinical school. She was employed as a Clinical Supervisor in 2012 at the Austin clinical school, University of Melbourne, to facilitate the implementation of the new MD course in the hospital. She is also an instructor at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeon’s ASSET course, teaching junior doctors the basic skills in surgery. Zeng is able to converse in English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Malay language and prides herself in being a good listener. She will ensure that her patients thoroughly understand their medical condition and the surgery they are about to have, and that they receive the best possible care in a timely manner.
