About Dr Tim Lording

Profile: Tim Lording is a locally and internationally trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in surgery of the knee. He was born and educated in Melbourne, completing his undergraduate medical degree at Monash University in 2002. He subsequently undertook advanced orthopaedic training in Victoria and Tasmania, obtaining fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2011.Tim worked as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon for 18 months at the Sandringham and Frankston Hospitals, before departing for further postgraduate subspecialty training overseas. He spent 12 months at the Centre Albert Trillat in Lyon, France, training in complex knee surgery. He then undertook a further 12-month fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine at the Fowler-Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic in London, Canada.Tim returned to Melbourne and joined the Melbourne Orthopaedic Group in 2015. He has a public appointment at The Alfred Hospital.Tim has an active interest in clinical and biomechanical research. He has published over twenty articles on knee surgery in peer-reviewed journals and authored several book chapters, and has presented his research at national and international meetings. In 2016, he was awarded the APKASS to AOSSM travelling fellowship, where he visited and lectured at orthopaedic sports medicine centers across the USA, including at Harvard and Stanford Universities. He is the scientific secretary of the Victorian branch of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, and a member of the international ACL study group.Tim is a member of numerous associations and societies, including the Australian Knee Society, the Asia-Pacific Knee, Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Society (APKASS), and the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS), where he serves on the scientific committee.
