Philosophy of care statement: “As a very experienced physician, I aim to provide high standard cardiac care which is both individualised and personalised.” A consultant and interventional cardiologist and Clinical Associate Professor at the Wollongong University School of Medicine with Special interests: in the management and prevention of coronary artery disease, rhythm disturbances and heart failure. Completed his MBBS with honours from the University of Sydney in 1975 and undertook his residency at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney. Dr McKenzie trained in cardiology at the Prince Henry and Prince of Wales Hospital Group where he qualified for his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 1982. He subsequently completed a Post-doctoral Fellowship in the Department of Cardiology at the Yale University in New Haven Connecticut Dr McKenzie is a pioneering Cardiologist in the Wollongong area having introduced onsite Echocardiography and established the Pacemaker Clinic at Wollongong Hospital Hospital. He also initiated the first local coronary angiography service at Figtree Private Hospital and has subsequently worked as an Interventional Cardiologist at St. George Public and Hurstville Private Hospitals as well at the Sutherland Heart Clinic. Dr McKenzie continues to be actively involved in teaching and research through his appointment as a Clinical Associate Professor with the Wollongong University Graduate School of Medicine. Special interests: Management and prevention of coronary artery disease as well as rhythm disturbances and heart failure
