Profile: Dr Cohen is a Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon who specialises in the minimally invasive management of both arterial and venous disease. The management of varicose veins now includes a range of treatments, including micro sclerotherapy, foam sclerotherapy, radiofrequency ablation, open surgical management and ovarian vein coiling. His particular interest in arterial disease includes minimally invasive management of aortic aneurysms, peripheral arterial disease and ulcers. He also enjoys treating rare vascular pathologies such as thoracic outlet, popliteal entrapment, external artery fibrosis and palmar hyperhidrosis surgery.After graduating from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, Dr Cohen returned to Australia to undertake a fellowship in Vascular Surgery. On completing the FRACS he returned to Europe to complete a fellowship in Advanced Endovascular Surgery at the University of Groningen in Holland under Dr Eric Verhoeven. He began practice in 2008 with a public appointment as a visiting medical officer at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.Dr Cohen is now consulting at Noosa Hospital and Gympie Specialist Centre, with the vast majority of patients being operated on at Noosa Hospital. In Brisbane he works at St Andrews War Memorial Hospital and the Holy Spirit Northside Hospital. Both hospitals have the latest Hybrid operating theatres, helping in the treatment of patients with difficult arterial pathology.
