Dr Thomas Luong was the stand-in psychiatrist at Nepean PECC while my wife was admitted. During this time he was ignorant, arrogant, negligent and dismissive. For a psychiatric emergency ward he lacked an ounce of compassion or care and frankly couldn’t care less. During my wife’s mental breakdown he wanted to decrease a medication purely because it adds weight to patients – despite the necessary intervention this medication provides. On top of this he discharged every patient in the ward today, despite the patients being in a clear unstable mental state. Surely not ALL patients are in a state to go home! I also believe some discharges happened against the regular psychiatrists instructions. You are far better off going without care than seeing this doctor.

Saw him for the first time last year. I had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and was hospitalised for a month for it and I told him that. He turned around and said I could sue all those doctors coz they misdiagnosed me. Then he told me I only had depression and alcohol flush syndrome without doing any tests/questionnaires and started me off on some tablets. My symptoms haven’t improved, I’ve put on heaps of weight and i have insomnia too now. He told me he’d be able to get me onto disability payment. Next time I booked an appointment with him I lost $100 i paid as a deposit because my daughter had fallen sick and I needed to go pick her up to which they showed no empathy. I asked receptionist whether I can drop the disability form and as soon as doctor had filled it out id come pick it up but she said I’d have to see doctor for that. Not helpful at all and I have no trust in any psychiatrist after that day.

My brother had been seeing Dr Luong for over a year in his private clinic at Cabramatta. In a profession that requires empathy, Dr Luong was negligent and lacked duty of care. My brother had been diagnosed with bipolar, however was incorrectly prescribed antidepressant medication whereas he should have been taking mood stabilisers. Whilst having a manic episode, both family and friends expressed our deepest concerns to Dr Luong to which he dismissed and even advised my mother she had anxiety. On top of this he is incredibly difficult to reach, never answers his phone and takes up to a week to respond to emails in urgent situation. We can no longer trust his professional opinion with diagnosis and medication – would not recommend him to anyone.

I worked with Dr Luong at Nepean Hospital for an extended time and have expressed dire concern about his negligence multiple times. He has a long-standing and unfounded (delusional) theory that even minute exposure to alcohol causes depression, advising non-alcoholic clients not to use perfume or alcohol hand sanitizer for this reason. He also prescribes Olanzapine irresponsibly, frequently claiming that it “flushes” alcohol from the body. When asked he gives an incorrect physiological explanation for this and uses intimidation techniques to avoid further questioning. He has been regarded as dangerous and irrational by the majority of people he works with over a number of years, yet he continues in his role. If you or someone you know has been harmed by his negligence please report your experience to the HCCC. Your evidence will be of benefit to all. Mental Illness is an inhumane experience that can disadvantage vulnerable individuals in a myriad of ways. Access to accurate information and effective healthcare is your right, not your responsibility.

    Dear Dr Leoungs patients ,
I was a former patient of Dr Leoung until he project MK Ultra me via he’s medicine sales rep aka Drug Trial dealers.
I saw him for a few years. And then Somehow , Dr Leoung hires the girl in my photos as he’s secretary. Hehe I noticed he’s mood has lifted ever since he started to hire her to take calls.
Then 2 years later , I started to hear Auditory Hallucinations/ voices. I was diagnosed as “Schizophrenic” by greedy ” Who the fuck is Jen” pharmaceutical researchers.
I came into Dr Leoung office one last time in either 2011 or 2012. When Dr Leoung dismissed me and said you are not that type of person. Which is a very correct diagnosis.
BTW in 2012 Dr Leoung Secretary stopped replying to my Facebook messenger messages.
That gave me the mind controll suggestion to be rude to a tall girl that was being friendly and Flirting. And saying can I pull your hair.
