He is a clinical Associate Professor with the school of medicine at University of Wollongong providing lectures to medical students on gastroenterology and hepatology. Qualifying as a gastroenterologist in 2008, Thomas trained at Wollongong hospital and then completed sub specialty training in IBD through Box Hill Hospital, Monash University, Melbourne. Furthermore, he completed a Master of Science and advanced IBD fellowship through the University of Alberta, Canada in 2011 and has been a staff specialist at Wollongong hospital since 2012. Thomas is a reviewer of Inflammatory bowel disease journal. He has published in Gut, Alimentary pharmacology and therapeutics, Journal of Crohn’s colitis, Gastroenterology Research and Practice and Internal medicine journal of Australia.
