About Dr Tai Phan

Dr Tai Phan is a consultant dermatologist and Mohs surgeon subspecialising in the surgical treatment of facial skin cancers, and the laser treatment of facial vascular lesions and photoageing. Dr Phan grew up in Sydney, completing his undergraduate medical degree with Honours from the University of New South Wales in 2000. He pursued his interest in dermatology and skin cancer through obtaining three Master degrees in: Medicine (Dermatology), Public Health and Health Management. His research at the University of Sydney was published in international medical journals. Most notable was his work identifying the specific UV wavelengths causing the most immunosuppression, which predisposes humans to skin cancer. Dr Phan became a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists (ACD) upon completion of his specialist dermatology training in 2010. He is a Visiting Medical Officer at Sydney Adventist Hospital, Concord Repatriation General Hospital, and The Skin Hospital Westmead._x000D_ In 2015, Dr Phan was selected for the Fellowship program in Micrographic Surgery & Dermatologic Oncology (Mohs) at the University of Toronto, Canada. This program is endorsed by the American College of Mohs Surgery. During his Fellowship, he trained at the largest Mohs Centre in Canada under the expert guidance of internationally recognised dermatologists Dr Christian Murray, Dr Nowell Solish and Dr An-Wen Chan. Dr Phan gained considerable experience with the Mohs Surgery technique and the reconstruction of complex surgical defects resulting from skin cancer on the face, head and neck. He is an ACD Approved Mohs Micrographic Surgeon, and he is a Member of the American College of Mohs Surgery and American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
