Dr Sumana is a UK-trained GP with an interest in mental health, chronic disease management and family planning. She is actively involved in the medical education of medical students in their training to be doctors of the future. As a doctor, she feels that it is very important to promote patient involvement and understanding of their health conditions, and that the doctor and patient work together as a team for the best possible medical outcome.

General practitioner (GP) treat all common medical conditions and refer patients to hospitals and other medical services for urgent and specialist treatment. Another important part of the work of a GP is preventative medicine and health promotion, include child immunisation and lifestyle modification.
