Profile: Dr Soong-Yuan Ooi is an Australian trained Gastroenterologist with a sub-specialty interest in Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). He went on to pursue his keen interest in IBD by completing a two-year Clinical Research Fellowship in IBD at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in 2014. During this time he gained experience in complex IBD (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis) while also being involved in the IBD Clinical Trials program. His research focus was on non-surgical strategies to optimize care for IBD patients, and was awarded a Faculty Divisional Scholarship by the University of Adelaide. During his post-fellowship training, Soong-Yuan also accepted a Staff Specialist position at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide for 12 months, providing services in IBD and endoscopic procedures. Soong-Yuan Ooi is a current member of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Gastroenterological Society of Australia.Dr Ooi provides consultation services in general gastroenterology, with a particular interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) having undertaken additional post-fellowship training with the IBD Service, Royal Adelaide Hospital.
