Profile: Dr Sofia Velosa was raised in Queensland and is excited to have settled on the Sunshine Coast to begin her practice. She practices across all areas of endocrinology with Special interests: in diabetes, thyroid disease, obesity, bone health and the management of endocrine disorders peri-pregnancy. She is committed to providing evidence-based care with a patient-centred focus.Dr Velosa completed her Bachelor of Science and MBBS at the University of Queensland. She undertook specialist endocrine and obstetric medicine training at the Mater Adults, Mater Mothers’, Royal Brisbane and Women’s and Greenslopes Hospitals. Her final year of training included young adult endocrinology and diabetes, after cancer-care and metabolic medicine.In addition to her practice in the Pulse Specialist Centre, Dr Velosa locums at the Mater Adults Hospital.
