After initially embarking on advanced training in Respiratory Medicine, Simon realised that he preferred the more varied practice of a general physician and moved to Cairns Base Hospital in 2002 to undertake advanced training in general medicine. He has been the sole physician in Innisfail, just south of Cairns, since completing his specialist training.Simon relocated to Noosa with his family and they enjoy the Sunshine Coast lifestyle. Dr Hawkins pursues his passion for fishing in his spare time.He was recently voted in as the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC).
