Profile: Dr Sheanna Maine BSc, BMBS, FRACS (Orth) is pleased to announce the commencement of her Private Practice at NWPH. Dr Maine currently practices at the Royal Children's Hospital as a Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon and at Redcliffe Hospital in Adult Lower Limb Orthopaedic surgery. Sheanna has an interest in lower limb deformity correction and is a member of the Australian Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction Society as well as the Australian Paediatric Orthopaedic Society.Sheanna completed her Medical degree in 2002 and trained in Orthopaedic Surgery in QLD, from 2007 achieving FRACS in 2010. She undertook a fellowship in Paediatric Orthopaedics at the Royal Childrens Hospital in Melbourne in 2012 where she worked in General Paediatric Orthopaedics, Limb Reconstruction and Cerebral Palsy with some of the most eminent specialists in their fields.Since returning to Brisbane, Sheanna has continued her adult and paediatric practices, focusing on:Hip and Knee ArthroplastyAdult and paediatric knee pathologies including Patellofemoral maltracking, ACL injuries, Osteochondral Defects, and Meniscal injury in the adolescentGeneral Paediatric OrthopaedicsPaediatric lower limb deformity and reconstructionSheanna is currently collaborating with Griffith University in researching the consequences of lower limb malalignment on joint reaction forces in the lower limb. She spends her spare time with her family and trains in Shotokan karate having competed for Queensland in numerous National tournaments. In 2012, she competed for Australia in the Traditional Shotokan Karate Federation World Cup, achieving a gold medal. She has consequently developed a unique insight into the needs of the adolescent and adult athlete. Sheanna has also devoted her time to orthopaedics in developing countries and hopes to continue General Orthopaedic Outreach work in the Pacific islands.
