Profile: Ramsay Health Care is delighted to introduce Dr Sam Hillier, who has commenced work at Cairns Private Hospital, in addition to consulting at his private rooms (Heartrx Cardiology).Originally from the UK, Sam graduated in Medicine from Oxford University in 2003, where he also obtained a Masters Degree, undertaking research in the Molecular Basis of Atherosclerosis. After completing his internship in the UK, Sam moved to Australia where he completed his specialist training. The majority of his clinical training has been in regional Queensland, including at the Cairns Hospital, where he has travelled to outreach clinics at Mareeba, Innisfail, Yarrabah and Atherton. Dr Hillier did his general and sub-specialty cardiology training at The Royal Brisbane and The Prince Charles Hospitals. After obtaining his FRACP in Cardiology, he completed a Fellowship year in Advanced Echocardiography at The Prince Charles Hospital.Sam is an Imaging Cardiologist, with Special interests: in the management of acute and chronic heart failure, as well as the perfomance of transoesophageal and exercise stress echocardiography, as well as cardiac CT. He has presented research at local, national and international meetings, and has contributed towards an American Society of Echocardiography book. He has a research interest in 3D echocardiography and is undertaking an M. Phil project with the University of Queensland.Sam has travelled widely throughout Australia and South East Asia and has returned to North Queensland with his young family as he enjoys the lifestyle opportunities that the region brings.Dr Hillier can be contacted any time. Patients will be seen without delay for prompt assessment and treatment.
