Profile: Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, and Fellow of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand.Dr Robert Chan completed his training at the University of Melbourne before spending time as Interventional Cardiology Associate at the Andreas Gruentzig Cardiovascular Centre in Atlanta, USA, one of the birthplaces of modern Interventional Cardiology. He maintains an active research presence, receiving scholarships from the National Health and Medical Research Council and the Austin Medical Research Foundation.Robert was awarded a PhD from Melbourne University in “Evaluation of Myocardial Contractile Dysfunction and Viability Related to Ischaemia”, and has published nearly 20 clinical papers. His areas of special interest include functional evaluation of coronary lesions using fractional flow reserve measurements, and complex percutaneous coronary intervention including rotational atherectomy and chronic total occlusion.; When Robert finds time to relax, he enjoys snow sports, music and gardening.
