About Dr Rita Cervantes
Profile: Rita's first degree was awarded in 1987 by the National University of Mexico where she is originally from. Her first two specialties were Internal Medicine and Nuclear Medicine after completing her Bachelor of Medicine in Mexico City. She then gained a PhD in Nuclear Medicine for the development of a unique non-invasive Nuclear Medicine Study technique that permitted to measure the Arterial and Venous Cerebral Circulation and its relationship with Intracranial Hypertension.Her deep interest in research and academics made her obtain a Diploma in Clinical Pharmacology while she was nursing her son in the early 90's?In 1997 Australia opened doors to her and she enterprised in describing Brain Networks in normal adults as well as the depressed and schizophrenic patients utilising Brain Mapping Techniques.In 2004, when The Royal Australasian College of Physicians requested her to undertake further training in Clinical Medicine in order to be able to practice as a clinician, her hidden passion to be closely involved with patients re-surfaced and upon admission to the College as a Fellow , since 2007 she enjoys assisting with the comprehensive health management of patients with Kidney Diseases.
