Profile: Dr Rebecca Magee grew up on the Sunshine Coast, and after completing her training, returned to the Sunshine Coast and resumed local public vascular services after nearly a decade without service. Rebecca will now also be offering her services to private patients at Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital and Nambour Selangor Private Hospital.Dr Magee completed her vascular surgery training in major tertiary hospitals in NSW and QLD. After her fellowship was awarded, she has continued to undertake further training in cutting edge endovascular techniques and emerging technologies, including further training with world leaders in Germany and Switzerland in advanced minimally invasive techniques to treat varicose veins/venous disease and complex peripheral arterial disease.She manages the full spectrum of vascular conditions, and treatments offered include:- open, endovascular and percutaneous aortic aneurysm repair- peripheral arterial angioplasty, stenting and bypass surgery- varicose vein surgery, endovenous ablation (laser/RFA) and sclerotherapy- carotid surgery- dialysis access surgery and angioplasty.Dr Magee prefers to utilise minimally invasive endovascular techniques where possible, however is still able to offer open or hybrid surgery where this is the most appropriate option.She is a Senior Lecturer with the University of Queensland, and undertakes collaborative research with the University of the Sunshine Coast in aneurysm and peripheral arterial disease.
