He holds a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP).Dr Larsen and his family then moved to Boston, Massachusetts USA, and completed a two year clinical and research Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology and Vascular Diagnosis and Intervention at the Lahey Clinic. This involved experience with a high volume of interventional procedures, including complex cardiac and vascular interventions and acute emergency cases (eg. primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) for emergency heart attacks), with a focus on trans-radial access. He also completed research, publishing in the area of trans-radial access for acute PCI.Dr Larsen returned to the Sunshine Coast in 2010 as the inaugural Director of Cardiology at NGH and is currently Director of Cardiac Catheterisation for the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service. He is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Medicine, University of Queensland. Dr Larsen led the development of the Cardiac Catheterisation Labs at NGH and commencement of the 24/7, 365 day acute heart attack service on the Sunshine Coast.He is a Fellow of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (FCSANZ) and holds post-graduate certification in peripheral endovascular therapy with the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and Cardiac CT Angiography with the Royal Australian College of Radiologists.Dr Larsen’s vision has been to work with specialist colleagues to create a world class leading “Heart Team” able to care for all patients with Cardiac conditions on the Sunshine Coast.
