About Dr Penelope Savvas

Dr Savvas graduated MB BS with first class honours from Sydney University in 1986, and undertook Registrar Training in Rheumatology at Royal North Shore Hospital in 1990. She became a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in December 1992. In 1993, Dr Savvas took over Dr John Dick-Smith's practice in Hornsby, on his retirement. She has remained in private practice in Hornsby as a Consultant Physician in Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Medicine. She has a well established and busy practice servicing the Upper North Shore, Central Coast and Northern regional areas, and practices Mondays through Thursdays inclusive._x000D_ Dr Savvas remains closely associated with the Department of Rheumatology at Royal North Shore Hospital, being actively involved in its activities and regular clinical meetings. She is a member of the Australian Rheumatology Association and attends its meetings and conferences. She is a professional member of the Arthritis Foundation of Australia and the Lupus Association. She is also a member of the Australian Medical Association and the KDMA. She has presented a number of patient education forums and general practitioner workshops. Dr. Savvas participates in the ongoing Maintenance of Professional Standards programme advocated by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians._x000D_ Dr Savvas has particular interests in the areas of Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Autoimmune connective tissue diseases, other inflammatory arthritidies, and Osteoporosis.
