About Dr Namrata Nayar

Dr Namrata Nayar is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and has recently joined Gosford Private Hospital as a Consultant Medical Oncologist. She is also a Staff Specialist Medical Oncologist at Calvary Mater Newcastle and has been working as a Locum Medical Oncologist for Dr Morgan in Gosford. She graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from India and completed her Advanced Training in Medical Oncology at the North Coast Cancer Institute and Central Coast Cancer Centre, Gosford Hospital. Dr Namrata is a Conjoint fellow and member of the Bachelor in Medicine (BMED) - Joint Medical Program (JMP) assessment committee and Oncology coordinator for MEDI5016 course for BMED - JMP at the University of Newcastle, providing support, supervision and mentorship to year 5 medical students. Dr Nayar has a strong interest in Clinical Research having completed a Masters in Clinical Epidemiology (MAMCE-03) at the University of Sydney. She was appointed at the NHMRC Clinical Trials Centre, University of Sydney, where she was the Research Fellow for the Australia and New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate Cancer Trials Group (ANZUP) and the Australasian Gastrointestinal Trials Group (AGITG) and played an integral part in development, implementation and conduct of Phase 2 and 3 clinical trials. Dr Nayar is currently involved as a site Co-Investigator at Calvary Mater Newcastle for a number of pharmaceutical and collaborative group sponsored phase 1b, 2 and 3 International, multicentre, clinical trials. She has widely published in peer reviewed journals and has presented posters at multiple National and International Annual Scientific Meetings such as MOGA, COSA, ASCO GU, AGITGASM. She is actively involved in quality assurance projects and clinical audits and is an expert steering committee member for the Lookback District Steering Group - SABSI Portacath for Hunter New England Local Health District and Calvary Mater Newcastle. Dr Nayar participates in the Breast cancer and Gastro-intestinal cancer multi-disciplinary meetings at Gosford Public Hospital and is a member of Hunter New England Gastro-intestinal cancer, Lung cancer and Head and Neck cancer multi-disciplinary meetings.
