Profile: Dr Michael Rtshiladze is an Australian trained Specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. He has strong interests in the surgical management of skin cancer and surgical oncology. He has completed post-fellowship sub-specialty training in the field of skin oncology with the Melanoma Institute of Australia. Dr Rtshiladze has also furthered his training in the field of Craniofacial Surgery and Paediatric Plastic Surgery through his work with the University of Toronto, Canada.Dr Rtshiladze hold public hospital appointments in the Department of Plastic Surgery at The Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick and also at The Prince of Wales Hospital.Dr Rtshiladze completed his undergraduate medical degree at the University of New South Wales graduating with honours in 2005. He undertook basic surgical training at The St George and The Sutherland Hospitals. In 2010 he completed a Masters of Surgery at the University of Sydney in the field of transplant surgery. Where he was awarded the John Lowenthal Medal for his laboratory work that investigated skin transplantation and mechanisms of graft tolerance.Dr Rtshiladze completed his specialist surgical training in the field of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery under the auspices of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Dr Rtshiladze has presented at a number of national and international conferences on topics ranging from trauma surgery, hand surgery and transplantation. He has published in numerous peer reviewed journals, with his most recent work focusing on skin cancer management. Dr Rtshiladze is actively involved the ongoing education of doctors in training.
