Profile: Dr Melinda Cook is a local graduate and trainee having completed her general surgery fellowship in 2003 and then working with Professor Ian Gough, Dr Colin Furnival and Dr Barry Fryar as the Breast and Endocrine Surgical Fellow in 2005. Dr Cook also holds a Fellowship in Burns Surgery, obtained during 12 months working in the Professor Stuart Pegg Burns Unit at the Royal Brisbane Hospital.As a specialist Breast and Endrocrine Surgeon, Dr Cook focuses on breast surgery for benign and malignant breast disease, thyroid surgery – including neck dissection for malignant thyroid disease and parathyroid surgery (both traditionally and minimally invasive approaches). Dr Cook is able to offer patients the option for immediate breast reconstruction working with a plastic surgeon at the Wesley.Dr Cook is currently a VMO at Breast Screen QLD in Chermside and the Wesley Breast Clinic.
