About Dr Masashi Ura
Profile: Dr Masashi Ura has developed specialised skills in adult cardiac and thoracic surgery as a result of his experience both in Japan and Australia. Having completed specialist training in Japan in 1999, he then underwent a fellowship at St George Hospital in Sydney, gained FRACS in 2005, and has been working at the Princess Alexandra Hospital as a consultant since 2007. Currently working in two hospitals, he performs over 200 open heart operations annually including over 40 mitral repairs, conferring him extensive experience in a variety of challenging and complex cases. His Special interests: include valve repair, video-assisted thoracic surgery, thoracic aneurysm repair and off-pump CABG for high-risk patients. In addition to mitral repair of the myxomatous valve, Dr Ura is proficient with the repair of infective endocarditis, mitral annular calcification and selected rheumatic heart valves. He is happy to provide prompt and comprehensive services in cardiothoracic surgery.
