Profile: Dr D’Arcy-Evans, a self-confessed coffee addict – has been a dedicated Obstetrician and Gynaecologist since 1982 and laughs that when he tells some patients this, its often before they were born!Dr D’Arcy-Evans has extensive specialist experience in Northern Brisbane. He was invited to join North West Private Hospital in full private practice in late 2005, since when he has been one of the busiest specialists, having delivered over 1800 babies here, with many parents returning to have their 2nd and 3rd babies.Prior to that he had been established as a senior consultant at Redcliffe & Caboolture Hospital with long years of experience. He was active in training doctors to become specialists, as Training Supervisor and Training Accreditation Committee member of the College (RANZCOG).He chose Obstetrics after having completing his Obstetric rotation during medical school. He loved it so much it became a competition between another doctor and himself over who could deliver the most babies! Describing himself as an “enthusiastic” specialist, he doubts he will be retiring anytime soon as he simply loves giving his mums and their families and unique and nurturing birth experience.Dr D’Arcy-Evans works on a rotational roster with some trusted colleagues to ensure all of his patients, and those of his colleagues, have an experienced Obstetrician available whenever they need it. As a result, Dr Darcy-Evans has personally delivered 12 babies in one particularly busy weekend! How did he handle it – a lot of coffee!He counts the ideal birth experience as simply whatever makes the mum and her support person happy – whatever that happens to be.
