Profile: Dr Manish Gupta was born and raised in Sydney, he studied medicine at The University of NSW and graduated in 1999. Following his surgical residency, he trained in orthopaedic surgery with the Australian Orthopaedic Association and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and gained his specialist qualifications in 2010.Thereafter he undertook further training in upper limb surgery. He completed the "hand and upper limb fellowship" at The Royal Brisbane Hospital, and in 2011 was selected as "The Calvert Fellow" at the prestigious Shoulder Unit of the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth in London, UK. Here he gained expert knowledge and surgical skills in disorders of the shoulder and elbow, and was appointed at The Royal Free Hospital NHS, London.He then spent time in Paris as a visiting fellow of the Institut de la main (hand surgery) and learnt microsurgery at The New York Presbyterian Hospital of Columbia University. He was a traveling Anglo Dutch sports surgery fellow, and completed the AO Foundation upper limb Masters and hand/wrist Masters courses in Switzerland.Dr Gupta has worked at major teaching hospitals in Townsville, Brisbane and Melbourne, before settling in his native Sydney. He specialises in treating people with disorders of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand; no-operative, keyhole, minimally invasive and open reconstruction.
