She completed general surgical training in Queensland followed by colorectal CSSANZ fellowships in Newcastle and Christchurch. During this time she obtained a Masters Degree in Minimally Invasive Surgery. Louise then undertook an additional fellowship year training in advanced colorectal malignancy at Basingstoke in the UK before returning to Newcastle with her family. Louise specialises in all aspects of colorectal surgery including endoscopy, bowel cancer and inflammatory bowel disease as well as minimally invasive general surgery. She is actively involved in research to improve patient care and has authored publications on open access endoscopy as well as bowel cancer management and enhanced recovery after surgery.
