About Dr Lana Bell
Profile: Dr Lana Bell obtained her undergraduate degree at the University of Western Australia (UWA), with honours and the Australian Medical Association prize for the year group in 1999. Following university, Dr Bell completed her internship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in 2000 before continuing her studies to complete her Diploma of Child Health in 2002.Becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians in the area of Paediatrics upon completion of her training in 2009, Dr Bell also completed her Masters of Public Health at UWA in the area of Childhood Obesity in 2009.Dr Bell practices in the area of General Paediatrics, seeing a wide variety of medical issues in children from birth to 16 years. She also treats children with developmental issues and delays, including autism and ADHD.Dr Bell is particularly interested in endocrinology, nutrition, growth, obesity, type 2 diabetes and polycystic ovarian disease in children.As well as treating both public and private patients at Joondalup Health Campus, Dr Bell also works as a consultant in the Endocrinology Department at Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH), specialising in childhood obesity.Dr Bell has been carrying out policy work between the Endocrinology Department at PMH and the Department of Child Protection and Family Support aimed at assisting families who have a child with morbid obesity to better access services and assist their child in reaching a healthy weight.Dr Bell is passionate about supporting overweight or obese children and their families.
