Profile: Dr. Kirstin Miteff is a young and energetic, Sydney born and raised Cosmetic and Reconstructive Plastic Surgeon. She relocated to Newcastle in 2017 with her family after completing her Plastic surgery training and an additional two years’ sub-specialty Fellowship training in Craniomaxillofacial surgery.After initially training as a Physiotherapist, Dr Miteff graduated in Medicine from the University of Sydney in 2003. She then completed her internship at Royal Prince Alfred, Sydney before working in Perth, WA and the United Kingdom. Dr. Miteff completed her preliminary surgical training in Taranaki and Hamilton, New Zealand in 2007 and was accepted onto the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Training Program in 2009. She undertook her specialist training in Auckland, Hamilton (New Zealand) and Perth, WA. She has gained extensive experience in General Plastic Surgery, Breast Reconstruction, Hand Surgery and Cosmetic - Breast / Body and Facial Pastic Surgery.In 2014 she was awarded Allergan Best Reconstructive Award – for her work with Scarless Latissimus Dorsi Flap for Breast reconstruction. She was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery in 2016.She further specialised in Cleft and Craniomaxillofacial Surgery at her Fellowship at Hutt Hospital, Wellington and Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital Brisbane.Dr. Miteff’s additional experience gained included:• Craniofacial reconstruction (Craniosynostosis)• Head and Neck Cancer surgery• Cosmetic Facial Plastic surgery• Orthognathic surgery• Paediatric Plastic surgery• Cleft Lip and Palate surgery• Congenital Craniofacial abnormalities (Facial palsy and Ear reconstruction, Vascular anomalies)Dr Miteff has been appointed to John Hunter Hospital as part of the Plastic and Reconstructive Service for Hunter New England Health.She attends the Head and Neck, Melanoma and Breast MDT.Dr Miteff is committed to providing caring, informed surgical care to patients in Newcastle and Greater Hunter region, she has recently opened private rooms in Glebe Road at The Junction..
