About Dr Katherine Stuart
Profile: Dr Katherine Stuart graduated from the University of Queensland and undertook advanced training in Gastroenterology at the Mater Adult and Royal Brisbane Hospitals followed by a Liver Fellowship year in London. On returning to Brisbane, Dr Stuart completed a PhD studying Iron Metabolism in Cirrhosis.Dr Stuart has a strong interest in liver disease especially viral hepatitis and liver cancer. She is the Director of Hepatology and a senior member of the Queensland Liver Transplant Service at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. For many years she was an Executive Member of the Australian Liver Association. She has been involved with the organisation of National and State liver meetings. Dr Stuart continues to be involved with clinical research and is a Researcher in the Trials Unit at Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation. She has been involved with several recent trials assessing new treatments in chronic viral hepatitis and fatty liver disease. Results of these trials have been published in International Journals. Her private practice is based at Greenslopes Private Hospital.
