Dr Hunt has a wide range of interests in hand surgery including osteoarthritic conditions, nerve compression and upper limb contractions. Hand surgery trauma is one of Josh\'s specialities - being on call at the John Hunter Hospital, the busiest trauma centre in Australia, for complex hand and microsurgery.Dr Hunt completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland in 2002. Since then he has made Newcastle his home completing his internship and residency years in the hospitals in the Hunter New England Health Area. He completed his advanced training in Orthopaedic Surgery completing his FRACS (Ortho) with the Royal College of Surgeons Australia.To further Dr Hunt\'s local hand surgery training he moved to St. Gallen in Switzerland to complete a 12 month fellowship in hand surgery in the region's 'Hand and Plastic Surgery' department. During this time he broadened both his skills and experience in the full breadth of hand surgery.In 2013 he was appointed as a VMO Hand Surgeon at the John Hunter Hospital which also includes the wider Hunter New England Health Service. This prestigious appointment has allowed Dr Hunt to be involved in complex hand trauma and also the full range of elective hand surgery in the public sector operating at both the Royal Newcastle Centre and Belmont Hospital. Every week he consults at the Royal Newcastle Hospital.
