About Dr Ian Patrick Sweeney

Dr Sweeney operates at the San Day Surgery Hornsby. Dr Sweeney graduated with honours from the University of Sydney in 1990. He holds postgraduate qualifications in the fields on implant dentistry as well as conscious sedation and pain management. He completed his Masters degree in Implant Dentistry from the University of Melbourne in 2005 and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. Dr Sweeney is also a board member of the College. He is a member of the Australian Dental Association, Academy of Osseointegration, Australian Prosthodontic Society and the Society of Endodontology. Dr Sweeney has been involved in undergraduate and postgraduate training, having held positions as examiner to the Royal College of Dental Surgeons. Dr Sweeney has been involved in implant and bone research since 1987 and has produced a number of publications. He worked at the Royal Children's Hospital of Melbourne for a number of years researching Osseointegration in children and young adults with Ectodermal Dysplasia, Cleft Lip and Palate. He also conducted psychological assessments of a number of patient groups. He is currently involved in research in the areas of dental phobia and pain management.
